A new beginning

A little over a year ago, I started Tyrdom.

I did not have a grand plan. I simply felt that something was missing.

I had long been interested in Nordic and Finnish history, mythology, folklore, philosophy and religion — but not as separate subjects. What fascinated me was how they connect. How old stories, beliefs and ways of seeing the world can still say something about us today.

Tyrdom was never meant to be just another Viking channel.

I wanted to explore the wider world of Fennoscandia: Sweden, Finland, the Baltic, the eastern routes, old religions, animism, archaeology, folklore and the ideas that shaped people long before the modern world.

But over time, Tyrdom has also become something more philosophical.

I keep coming back to questions about meaning, responsibility, nature, spirituality, masculinity and the human condition. Why do certain myths survive? Why do old archetypes still speak to us? What have we gained from modernity — and what might we have lost?

One year later, I am more motivated than when I started.

The channel has grown, but more importantly, the project itself has become clearer to me. I now see Tyrdom less as a YouTube channel and more as a long-term body of work. A time capsule, more important now then ecer.

YouTube will remain at the centre of it, but I want to expand beyond video. Hence Tyrdom.com.

I want Tyrdom to become a platform for essays, deeper research, historical exploration and philosophical reflection. A place where videos and written pieces can build on each other over time.

Perhaps, eventually, even a book. I do not know exactly where it will lead.

But I know this:

I am only getting started.

Tyrdom out.
